megara

Megara is located in the municipality of Attica near Athens and borders the Aegean Sea in the south. Agricultural production in Megara is diversified with a focus on the highly lucrative and labour-intensive horticultural produce such as amaranth, dandelion, dill, chicory, lettuce, and parsley. Although the farms in Megara tend to be small, farmers derive maximum land use by planting crops around olive trees for year-round farming. Poultry also forms a significant part of agrarian economy in Megara. Both horticultural produce and poultry cater to the domestic and export markets in other European countries and China. All the labour here is provided by Indian and Pakistani migrant men who are paid wages of €22-25 for 8-10 hours of work.
