Skala-Laconia

Skala occupies the valley region in Laconia in the Peloponnese region of Greece. Apart from Argos, it is well known for being one of the top citrus fruit or orange farming regions in Greece. Olive harvesting done seasonally from mid-October until end-January each year attracts Bangladeshi and Pakistani migrants on a cyclical basis. The workers are hired by local farmers owning small olive farms or orange orchards. The olives and oranges are for local use and export.
